Perils of Housing Animals Together

Green Man's head

Green Man and Belite have a little disagreement that reminds us that geckos do not always like to play nice with each other.

Geckos and 3D Printing

I finally get the 3d printer up and can start to move forward with the finishing touches on Gecko Condo!

Listen, Chahouas, you are not who we told you you were

This morning an article published yesterday by the scientific-journal Zootaxa was brought to my attention.  The journal itself deals with the taxonomical classification of animals, something that interests me as a connection between the world of biology and my professional position as an archivist.  Taxonomy is essentially the way we identify what things are through names we give them and classifications.  In the library and archives world this helps organize information to make it easier for people to access.  In biology taxonomy tells us that this animal

Nadia

Nadia is a Grande Terre cross.  Even as she is getting older she seems to like to sleep in odd contorted positions and make acrobatic moves when she jumps. Granted, all geckos do these things but we catch her at it more often.

Rhacodactylus Leachianus

Female

La Crepe

La Crepe is a Grande Terre cross.  She liked to flatter herself out a lot when I first got her, hence the name.  Temperment wise she is pretty calm for a leachie.

Species:
Rhacodactylus Leachianus
Sex:
Female
Hatch Date:
May, 2011

Helga

Helga is an Isle E leachie from high pink Frank Fast lines.  Pretty much your typical leachie, grumpy, likes to bite, and bark at you from her high perch should you go into her enclosure for any reason.

Species:
Rhacodactylus Leachianus
Sex:
Female
Hatch Date:
October, 2010

Umlaut

This beautiful girl was picked up because her previous owner was getting out of geckos.  My first gargoyle!  She is big and she knows it.  Still not as grumpy as Habibi, though.

Species:
Rhacodactylus Auriculatus
Sex:
Female
Hatch Date:
November, 2008
Currently Paired With:
Status:

Quasimodo

I picked up Quasimodo because he seemed like the perfect match for Habibi.  He typically just goes about his gecko business and does not mind being handled.

Species:
Rhacodactylus Auriculatus
Sex:
Male
Hatch Date:
October, 2009
Currently Paired With:

Umlaut

Habibi

Habib is the first gargoyle gecko hatchling I acquired.  She has always been spunky and a little ornery.  She is a bold gecko and loves to jump.  She has been none to nip, and always complains when you hold her with a low gecko growl.

Species:
Rhacodactylus Auriculatus
Sex:
Female
Hatch Date:
November, 2009
Status:
Unavailable
